Pumpkin Carving ’06
We carved our pumpkin last night. Mandy thought of how it should look which was the comedy & tragedy theatre masks. The was pretty simple to do but looks great when lit up. We started by drawing the faces (just eyes and mouth) and then taping the paper to the pumpkin. Then I poked little holes along the drawn lines with a push pin so I would have a guide to use when it came time to carve. The top was then cut out and the kids got to work on scraping and hauling out the insides. Hooray for pumpkin guts! The kids were grossed out a bit, especially when I grabbed some and put it in front of their faces. After we got the inside clear out, it was time for me to break out the knives! To cut out the template, I just played connect the dots with the push pin holes. Afterwards, I fine tuned the cuts to smooth it out. After I was all done we cleaned up the table and put in a candle to test it out. We think it came out very well. Ooooh! Ahhhh! Even better than Pirate Bob!?
