How I spent my summer vacation: Part 1
Started my first vacation day of this week at the dentist. Now why would I want to do that? A little back story first. At my last cleaning, my dentist noticed that my gums were a bit inflamed, but it was just above where I had gotten crowns a few years ago. He wanted to do an allergy test to see if I was allergic to the trace metals found in the crown. I did that a week ago. I had to strap 3 metal wafers onto my forearm for 48 hours to see if it irritated my skin any. We didn’t anything, that is except for the irritation that the tape caused. I think I lost some arm hair as well.
The dentist still thinks this is the issue since the wafers we used were of a higher trace amount than what’s in my crowns. Okay, that’s fine. So I went in this morning and laid in the dental chair for two and a half hours and got two of my crowns removed, molds made, and temporary crowns cemented. My mouth in that general area still hurts. On the up side, I got to watch some Shark Week on Discovery and some Breakfest Food Tech & Snack Food Tech on Modern Marvels while I was poked, drilled, gooed, and glued. I go back in two weeks for the real ones with the higher trace amount. At least he’s not going to charge me for these visits – I am so glad for that.
A great start if I don’t count the allergy scratch test I had to endure on Friday morning. I get to see the doctor about those results this Friday. I think I’m just going to opt for some good prescription drugs.
