Drooling over keyboards…

And I thought Das Keyboard was great. Optimus keyboard is set to debut at the end of this year. What’s so fab about it? Each key has LEDs on them allowing them to be totally customizable, depending on what application you are running, regional layouts you use, etc… I have no idea what this is going to cost but they say, “It will cost less than a good mobile phone.” That does sound scary.

Extreme Makeover: Web Site Edition?

The urge strikes me once or twice a year to totally overhaul this web site with a new design. This time I think I did a much more decent job than usual. It is more clean, stream-lined, and easier on the eyes now. Integrating my site with WordPress will definitely be a time saver with regards to content management, especially with the photo section. I’m going to be blogging on here more now but compared to the amount I did before, I think I’m jumping up to occassionally. I’m going to get my portfolio up here with the next few days along with other things.

I should probably study for my finals now, shouldn’t I?

Bootable USB and Palm Trees!

Last night I was up a bit late trying to get my 256MB USB thumb drive bootable. I managed to do it and I put our company’s DOS network boot disk on it as well. This setup along with some command line utilities like NTFS4DOS and ReadNTFS makes for a great time when a user is down and out in a bad way.

I show this to my Team Lead and he’s estatic and immediately a light goes on in his head, I guess. Now he wants me to do this to his 4GB USB thumb drive but also put the desktop & laptop images on it. I can get one image to fit since they’re like almost 3GB each.

Lately, I’ve been working on my own version of my father-in-law’s website for his newspaper, News Barometer. I’m hoping to have something somewhat finished site-wise and process-wise for him to look at and see if he wants to use its format for publishing his weeklies online. So far I think I’ve got most of the functionality tweaked. I had some trouble utilizing images with the content management system I’m using (PROPS). So far it’s the only CMS I’ve found that supports weekly publications. As far as the design goes, I’m still adjusting it. I’m looking for a beter stock photo for the background though. These palm trees are just really… bright and big.
